President Rockwell called the Annual meeting of the Association to order with a salute to the flag at 5:00 PM. Prior to the start of the business meeting a short educational program was presented by John Blaschick on the state of the office and the Fire Prevention Code. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes of the March meeting as distributed. Passed Treasurer Report:Checking; Balance $14,789.72 Income 33,433.00 Expenses (28,172.15) Balance $20,050.57


Savings Balance $9,072.32

Total Assets $29,122.89

A motion was made and seconded, to accept the report of the Treasurer. Passed Committee Reports Board of Directors: Art Higgins welcomed all including vendors to this years conference and thanked the Board of Directors and the Officers of the Association for their input and support this past year. OEDM: Doug Schanne reported that the Fire Marshal Pre-certification Investigation class HazMat Code module is moving forward. The Advanced Fire Investigation School will run April 28, 29, 30 and May 6,7,8,9 2009. He thanked the Association for their generous support. Bonnie is working on the Fall Schedule and the Credits database. Special Hazards: No Report Legislative Committee: Kevin Kowalski reported that next week (Wednesday) is Fire Services Day at the Capital to be held between 0900 / 1200. Help is needed and this would also be a good time to contact your representatives on key issues that concern the Fire Marshal community at this time. Support is needed for SB 1009 which will make the required changes to the Statutes for the upcoming Fire Prevention Code as well as HB 6286 which indemnifies us for the installation of smoke and CO detectors. This bill even has the support of the trial lawyers. SB 0850 which refers to School inspections is on the senate floor. The bill dealing with novelty lighters died in committee. Kevin also spoke on how the Governor removed all of the monies in the CFPC account that deals with reimbursement of FFI training expenses. Kevin and a group from Connecticut were able to meet with the Connecticut delegation in Washington this month. A motion was made and seconded to move the 1st readings to New Business. Passed. Codes and Standards: No report. “541” Committee: 2nd Vice President Lee Cooke stated that the committee is meeting with nothing to report at this time. NFPA: No Report. ICC: No Report. NEAFM: No Report Conference: No Report. Training Council: No Report Fire Prevention and Control: No Report Old Business None New Business A motion was made and seconded to have the membership applications follow the normal course. Passed Elections: The president presented the list of nominations for office that was presented by the nominating committee (Bruce Varga, Richard Morris, Megan McCarthy) Pat Tourville –PresidentLee Cooke - 1st Vice PresidentJohn Yacovino - 2nd Vice PresidentThomas O’Hare – SecretaryJohn Francolini – Treasurer A motion was made and seconded to include the Name of Bob Upson as a candidate for 2nd Vice President. Passed. President Rockwell called for a vote between John Yacovino and Bob Upson. With 61 votes cast John Yacovino received 42 Votes and Bob Upson received 18 Voted. John was declared the winner and will be 2nd Vice President. Since all other positions were un- opposed President Rockwell ordered one vote to be cast for each of the remaining candidates. President Rockwell presented the officers for 2009 /2010 Pat Tourville –PresidentLee Cooke - 1st Vice PresidentJohn Yacovino - 2nd Vice PresidentThomas O’Hare – SecretaryJohn Francolini – Treasurer Good of the Association President Rockwell congratulated all of the new officers and gave a heartfelt thanks to all of his officers who helped and supported him these past two years. John Francolini advised all that the Golf Outing will be held on July 14, 2009 at the Southington Country Club. The fee will be $80.00. He thanked JP Maguire for there generous support of the CFMA annual Golf Outing.
